蘇澳冷泉 Su’ao Cold Spring

冷泉的形成，仰賴兩大要素，一是豐富的地下水，二是能大量產生二氧化碳的岩層。蘇澳豐沛的雨量，加上厚實的石灰岩層及溶有板岩的微量礦物質，造就了蘇澳特有的冷泉。在1928 年日本軍人意外發現此泉水清涼可飲，而使蘇澳冷泉開始受到研究與運用；其泉質屬於碳酸泉，泉溫約攝氏22度左右，水質清澈透明，可飲可浴。

蘇澳冷泉為恆溫攝氏二十二度的「低溫礦泉」，由於宜蘭豐沛的雨量，和蘇澳當地厚實的石灰岩層地形而形成。泉水無色無臭、水質透明，地底不時冒出氣泡，是可浴可飲的碳酸泉。由於池底不斷冒出潔細的氣泡，彷彿浸泡在無糖的汽水裡，十分特別。

Su’ao Cold Spring is the only calcium bicarbonate spring in Taiwan. The spring temperature is about 22°C. As the insects, fish and shrimp that accidentally enter the spring will be unable to survive due to its rich CO2 content, the spring was once regarded as poisonous.
