台灣首個以生態博物館為理念的博物館，一直以「生態博物館」的理念，戮力於資源永續經營、生態旅遊，同時結合社區力量，盼能將金瓜石、水湳洞地區珍貴的自然生態、礦業遺址、景觀風貌、歷史記憶及人文資產進行妥善的保存。

Taiwan’s first museum, based on the concept of an ecological museum, is dedicated to the sustainable management of resources and eco-tourism. At the same time, it combines the strengths of the community and hopes to bring precious natural ecology, mining sites, landscapes and historical memories to the JinGuaShi and ShuiNanDong, and human assets are properly preserved.
